Laura Gilmore

School Director & Teacher Trainer

Laura’s personal practice and therapeutic process extends back over 30 years and continues to evolve. A lifetime of dedicated self-study, processing complex trauma and ongoing studies enabled her to transform from an adolescent with serious mental health problems to the radiant teacher she is today.

As a teacher of 20 years, Laura has developed a keen sensitivity towards students from all backgrounds. Experience has taught her that what unites us all is a longing for self acceptance & compassion.

Laura’s teaching is infused with this deep awareness of our common humanity, which means she is valued for her unique approach to supporting students with kindness, playfulness, love and creativity.

Laura’s courses take an evidence based approach, synthesizing contemporary science with the classical teachings of yoga.

Her teaching integrates knowledge of a wide range of traditions and teachers, based in a study of traditional Iyengar, hatha & ashtanga; deepened by an understanding of somatics, Zen & the subtle body.

Most recently Laura has studied with Tias Little (SATYA), Anodea Judith (chakras), and Heather Mason of the Minded Institute (Yoga for PTSD, Yoga for Anxiety).

“We don’t need to work gently or be serious to be mindful or trauma sensitive. In fact, if we approach our practice with an equal sense of reverence, humility and humour, we often find that we’re able to work harder than we thought possible. When we feel, we transform our state of mind, our consciousness. We become alive to ourselves and to life. The miracle of the ordinary!”
